SuperGrok Price: What SuperGrok Lite and Every Tier Costs

xAI publishes no price list a browser can read, so we read Apple's in-app purchase disclosure instead. Every SuperGrok tier, what the credit packs cost, why the billing period is the one thing Apple does not tell you, and whether the plan still makes sense now the companions are being retired.

Short answer: xAI does not publish a readable pricing page, but Apple does it for them. The App Store in-app purchase disclosure for the Grok AI app lists four SuperGrok price points, read on 2026-09-01: SuperGrok Lite at $10.00, SuperGrok at $30.00, SuperGrok Plus at $100.00 and SuperGrok Heavy at $300.00, alongside extra usage credit packs at $5, $20, $50 and $100. A second SuperGrok point at $300.00 also appears, which is consistent with an annual plan on the $30 tier, though Apple does not label it as one.

That caveat is the whole point of this page. Apple requires developers to disclose the amounts, not the billing periods, so the honest way to read the list is as four confirmed price points rather than four confirmed monthly fees. Confirm the period on the subscription screen in the app before you buy. Every number below is graded by where it came from, because most of what is written about Grok pricing is one review copying another.

How much does SuperGrok cost?

SuperGrok, the standard paid tier, sits at a $30.00 price point in Apple's disclosure, which matches what reviewers have reported for over a year. That makes it one of the more expensive consumer AI assistant subscriptions in the US market, above the $19.99 point Apple lists for ChatGPT Plus and well above the $8.00 point listed for ChatGPT Go.

What you are buying at $30 is a general-purpose assistant with higher usage limits, not a companion product. That distinction became sharper in July 2026, and it is the reason a lot of people are re-reading their own subscription right now.

What do all four SuperGrok tiers cost?

Tier or packPrice pointWhere the figure comes fromWhat it is for
SuperGrok Lite$10.00Apple in-app purchase disclosure, read 2026-09-01The entry paid tier. Autocomplete is full of people asking about its message and video limits, which xAI does not publish outside the app
SuperGrok$30.00Apple in-app purchase disclosure, read 2026-09-01The standard tier, and the one most companion users were on
SuperGrok (second point)$300.00Apple in-app purchase disclosure, read 2026-09-01Consistent with an annual plan on the $30 tier at ten months for twelve. Apple does not label the period, so verify in the app
SuperGrok Plus$100.00Apple in-app purchase disclosure, read 2026-09-01A heavier usage tier positioned between the standard plan and Heavy
SuperGrok Heavy$300.00Apple in-app purchase disclosure, read 2026-09-01The top tier, aimed at sustained research, coding and video generation
Extra usage credits$5, $20, $50, $100Apple in-app purchase disclosure, read 2026-09-01Consumable top-ups bought on top of a plan when a tier's allowance runs out

Read that last row carefully, because it is the part people miss when they budget. A subscription tier is not a ceiling on what Grok can cost you in a month. The credit packs exist precisely because tiers run out, and $100 packs are not there for occasional users. If you or your team are expensing several assistant subscriptions at once, having one read-only view of what the software spend actually totals is worth more than negotiating any single line item on it.

Why can't I find xAI's pricing page?

Because it does not serve to everyone. We tried grok.com/pricing under a headless browser and got a Cloudflare interstitial, and x.ai itself returned an outright block. That is a defensible anti-scraping choice on xAI's part, but the practical result for a US buyer is that the official price list is harder to read than a competitor's.

The App Store listing is the workaround, and it is a better source than a review because Apple compels the disclosure and updates it with each build. The listing we read was version 1.4.31, released 2026-08-31. Google Play carries a similar in-app purchase range, though it is expressed as a span rather than as named products, which is why the named tiers above come from Apple.

What is SuperGrok Lite?

SuperGrok Lite is the $10.00 entry tier. xAI does not publish its message caps, video limits or model access anywhere outside the app, which is why search suggestions for it are dominated by people asking about limits rather than about price. Anyone quoting exact Lite caps to you is reporting what they saw in their own account, not a published figure.

SuperGrok Lite vs SuperGrok: what is the difference?

The gap is usage allowance and model access, not a different product. The $30 tier buys more of the same thing: more messages, more generations, higher limits before you hit a wall. Nothing in Apple's disclosure suggests Lite unlocks a feature category that the standard tier lacks, and nothing suggests the reverse either. Treat the choice as a volume decision.

What does SuperGrok Heavy cost?

SuperGrok Heavy carries a $300.00 price point. That is a professional-tool number, roughly comparable to the top research tiers at other AI labs, and it is priced for people running sustained workloads rather than for anyone chatting in the evening. If your reason for looking at Grok was a companion character, Heavy is not the tier you want and no amount of it changes the companion experience.

SuperGrok vs SuperGrok Heavy: is Heavy worth it?

Only if you are hitting the standard tier's limits regularly enough that credit packs are already becoming a habit. The arithmetic is simple: Heavy costs $270 more than the standard point, so it pays for itself against roughly three $100 credit packs a month. Below that, the packs are cheaper. Above it, Heavy is. Nobody buys the top tier for the badge and comes out ahead.

Is there a SuperGrok free trial?

Grok itself is free to use at a basic level, and the App Store lists the app at $0.00 with in-app purchases, so there is a free path into the product. What we could not find is any published, dated free-trial offer for a SuperGrok tier from xAI itself. Trial codes and free-access links circulate constantly in search suggestions for this term, and most of them lead somewhere you should not put your card details.

Does SuperGrok include Ani and the AI companions?

It did, and that is changing. Companion access was bundled into the paid tiers rather than sold separately. On July 24, 2026 xAI described the 3D avatar Companions feature as an experiment and said it was retiring it soon to focus on core Grok, which covers Ani, Rudi and Valentine.

Two honest details. First, the feature had not vanished from the shipping app as of yesterday: Apple's listing for version 1.4.31, released 2026-08-31, still carries a Grok AI Companions section naming Ani, Rudi and Valentine. Second, no shutdown date has been published by xAI on any page we can read. September 1, 2026 has circulated in companion forums, sourced to an in-app notice, and the rollout is reported to be staggered account by account. We label that as reported, not confirmed.

If Ani was the reason the $30 was on your card, that is a subscription whose headline feature is being withdrawn mid-term. Our Grok Ani alternative page covers what survives the retirement, what does not, and where the character part of it lives afterwards.

What survives if the companions go?

Reporting consistently says the personalities, chat histories and saved memories stay on your account, and that you can summon a character by name inside an ordinary Grok chat. What goes is the presentation layer: the animated avatar, the companion tab, the outfit customization and the real-time voice layer that made Ani feel present.

There is a separate feature worth knowing about, because it is easy to confuse with the companions and it is not being retired. Apple's listing describes Grok Voice Mode as letting you choose between different assistant personalities including Assistant, Romantic and Storyteller. That is a persona setting on the assistant, not a companion character, and it ships in the same build.

How do I cancel SuperGrok?

Cancel wherever you originally paid. If you subscribed inside the iOS app, the subscription belongs to your Apple ID and you cancel it in Apple ID subscriptions, not in the Grok app. On Android it lives in Google Play subscriptions. Cancelling ends the renewal at the end of the current period rather than refunding the current one.

Do not delete the app or the account as a way of cancelling. On most platforms in this category those are separate actions and deletion is the one that destroys your history, which is exactly what you want to keep if you are leaving because a feature was removed. Cancel, confirm the history is still readable, then decide about the account.

Is SuperGrok worth it for a companion?

Not any more, and it is worth being blunt about that rather than hedging. At $30 a month you are buying a general-purpose assistant whose companion layer is being retired by its own maker. If you want Grok for research, coding, image and video generation and live information from X, the price is defensible and the product is strong. If you were paying it to talk to Ani, you are about to be paying $30 a month for something else.

The category answer is that dedicated companion products cost a fraction of that because they do one thing. Our breakdown of what an AI girlfriend actually costs across the market puts the flat plans, token meters and app-store tiers side by side, and almost all of them land under $15 a month. For context on the character itself, what Ani is and how she works covers the bond system and the voice layer in detail.

Beauties.ai is the flat-plan version of this: six girlfriends written and illustrated in house, unlimited texting with nothing metered, no credit packs, and a browser tab rather than an app that has to reach your platform. And six characters is a small roster next to a general assistant that also writes code, so that is a real trade rather than a footnote. If you are comparing more broadly, our Grok AI girlfriend alternative comparison is the page for it.

The short version

Apple's in-app purchase disclosure for the Grok AI app, read on 2026-09-01, lists SuperGrok Lite at $10.00, SuperGrok at $30.00, SuperGrok Plus at $100.00 and SuperGrok Heavy at $300.00, plus extra usage credit packs at $5, $20, $50 and $100. Apple discloses the amounts and not the billing periods, so verify the period in the app. xAI publishes no price list we can read, because grok.com and x.ai both return a bot block. The companion feature that put a lot of people on the $30 tier was described by xAI on July 24, 2026 as an experiment being retired, and as of Apple's 2026-08-31 build it was still listed in the app. Last updated September 2026.
