Chub AI Subscription: $20 Unlimited Plan, Crypto Only

The Chub AI subscription is one plan at $20 a month, paid in crypto only, with unlimited use of every model including Soji 1.6T at 60K context. Mercury is gone from Chub's page. We priced the same 60K context per reply through your own API key: DeepSeek V3 breaks even at about 50 replies a day. Read at source on 2026-09-21.

Short answer: the Chub AI subscription is one plan at $20 a month, paid in cryptocurrency only. Chub's own subscription page, read on 21 September 2026, lists unlimited access to all of its models, including Soji 1.6T with a 60K context, plus unlimited voice and multimedia generation, early access to new models and access to future ones. There is no card option, no annual price and no second tier on that page. Chub's terms say it does not offer refunds unless it explicitly grants one.

That is not what most of the pages ranking for this search say. The review sites in this search still describe two plans, Mercury at $5 a month and Mars at $20, billed in four month blocks and charged to a card under an unfamiliar merchant name. None of that appears on chub.ai today. If you are about to pay, the page you pay on is the one that counts, so this article works from it and from Chub's terms of service, last updated 15 May 2026.

How much is the Chub AI subscription?

The Chub AI subscription costs $20 a month. The subscription page shows a single price, "$20 /month", above a list of what it unlocks: every large language model on the platform including Chub's own Soji 1.6T at 60K context, voice, image and multimedia generation, and early access to new models. Chub's terms describe it as a monthly service: if you cancel, "you will not be charged for your next month's subscription" and access ends when the paid period does.

Over a year that is $240 with no commitment discount, because the page offers no annual plan. Here is how that sits next to the other subscriptions people in this category compare it with, every figure read at source on the date shown.

SubscriptionMonthly priceA year, paid monthlyCheapest yearly optionHow you pay
Chub AI (chub.ai/subscription, 21 Sep 2026)$20$240None listedCrypto only
janitor+ (Janitor newsroom and Apple, 15 Sep 2026)$12.99$155.88None existsCard via Stripe, or the App Store
Beauties.ai Spark (our pricing page)$12$144$108Card

Chub is the dearest of the three at the monthly rate and the only one you cannot put on a credit card. It is also the only one that promises unlimited use of a very large model with a 60K context, which is what the $20 is really buying. Whether that is a good deal depends on how you would otherwise pay for that model, which is the next section.

Is the Chub AI subscription worth it compared with your own API key?

For a heavy roleplayer on a large model, yes, because long chats are expensive when you pay per token. Every message in a chat app re-sends the whole conversation the character can see as input, so once a chat fills a 60K context window, each reply costs you 60,000 input tokens before a single word comes back. The context limit is a price multiplier, not just a memory feature.

We priced one reply at a full 60K context with a 300 token answer, using OpenRouter's published per million token rates read on 21 September 2026, then worked out how many replies $20 buys and what 50 replies a day costs over a month.

Model through your own keyRate per 1M tokens (in / out)One reply at 60K contextReplies $20 buys50 replies a day for a month
Mistral Nemo$0.019 / $0.030.11 centsabout 17,400$1.73
Llama 3.3 70B$0.10 / $0.320.61 centsabout 3,280$9.14
GPT-4o mini$0.15 / $0.600.92 centsabout 2,180$13.77
DeepSeek V3$0.25 / $1.001.53 centsabout 1,310$22.95
GPT-4o$2.50 / $10.0015.3 centsabout 130$229.50
Claude Sonnet 4.5$3.00 / $15.0018.45 centsabout 108$276.75

So Chub's $20 roughly breaks even with DeepSeek V3 for someone sending 50 long context replies a day, and beats any premium model by a wide margin. It loses to the small models, and it loses to everything early in a chat, when the context is short and each reply costs a fraction of the figures above. Some providers also discount repeated input through prompt caching, which lowers the per token column. The honest reading: the subscription is worth it if you chat a lot, in long sessions, and want a big model without watching a meter.

If you have been setting up a key to use somewhere else, the same arithmetic drives the best API for Janitor AI, priced per message, and the Janitor AI proxy cost page shows how context tiers multiply a per token bill.

Why is Chub AI crypto only?

Chub says it is to avoid censorship pressure. Its subscription page answers the question directly: "The primary sources of censorship pressure for most websites are credit card companies and payment processors. By not using them, we are able to stay free of that pressure permanently." Chub's terms make the same point from the other side, noting that very explicit images "scare the payment processors".

For a US buyer, paying in crypto changes three practical things. First, there is no chargeback. A card dispute is the safety net most people rely on when a service stops working, and a crypto payment does not have one. Second, Chub's terms say it "does not offer refunds unless explicitly granted by the Company", so the only route back is asking Chub. Third, you pay whatever fee your wallet or exchange charges to send the payment, on top of the $20. If you paid in bitcoin and want to confirm the payment actually landed, you can look the transaction up on the Bitcoin blockchain yourself before you contact support.

What happened to Chub Mercury and Mars?

They are not on Chub's subscription page. Review sites describe Mercury at $5 a month with smaller hosted models and Mars at $20 with Chub's large Soji model, both sold in four month blocks. As of 21 September 2026, chub.ai/subscription shows one $20 monthly plan that includes all models, so the Mars price survives and the Mercury tier does not appear at all.

Two cautions follow from that. Listings on third party key marketplaces still sell "Mercury/Mars" subscriptions in one and four month bundles; those are resellers, not Chub, and the plan they describe is not the one Chub's page sells. And any review that tells you to expect a card charge under a different merchant name is describing a payment route Chub's own page now rules out, since it takes crypto only.

What does unlimited mean on Chub AI?

Unlimited means unlimited for one person. Chub defines it on the subscription page as "Unlimited for a single user, similar to Netflix". Concurrent requests from the same account return a 429 error, and what Chub calls obvious key sharing, usage from tens of locations or devices, or round the clock usage "beyond that explainable by a sleep disorder", leads to restrictions. Chub adds that no subscriber has triggered those restrictions since subscriptions launched in June 2023.

In practice that makes it a genuinely flat plan for one person chatting in one place at a time. It is not a way to power several front ends at once, and the subscription page notes the API works anywhere that supports OpenAI's API format, which is useful if you run your own interface but is also exactly the usage the sharing rule polices.

Is Chub AI free?

Browsing is free, and chatting is free if you bring your own model. Chub's library of community character cards can be searched without an account, and you can point a card at an API key you fund yourself, in which case your provider bills you per token as in the table above. Chub's own models are the paid part. The subscription page says new users are regularly sent one time free trial credits "amounting to a few dozen messages", which is enough to test Soji and not enough to live on.

Is Venus Chub the same as Chub AI?

Yes. Venus was the name of Chub's chat front end, and venus.chub.ai now redirects straight to chub.ai, which we checked on 21 September 2026. People still search "chub venus" out of habit, and older guides describe Venus as a separate site, but chatting, the character library and the subscription all live at chub.ai.

How do I cancel a Chub AI subscription?

Cancel from your Chub account before the next monthly period. Chub's terms say that once you cancel you "will not be charged for your next month's subscription" and your access is "revoked at the end of the active period". Because payment is crypto rather than a card, nothing in your bank or card app will show a Chub subscription to stop, so the cancellation has to happen on Chub itself.

Can I get a refund from Chub AI?

Only if Chub agrees. The terms of service say refunds are not offered "unless explicitly granted by the Company", and a crypto payment cannot be disputed through a card issuer. If something is wrong with your subscription, contact Chub first and keep the transaction ID from your wallet or exchange, because it is the only proof of payment you have.

Who the Chub AI subscription suits, and who it does not

It suits someone who roleplays daily, in long sessions, with characters from Chub's community library, wants a large model and would otherwise spend more than $20 a month on tokens. It suits people who already hold crypto and are comfortable with no chargeback. It is also the right call if an uncensored library is the whole point, because that is what Chub is built around.

It does not suit someone who mainly wanted one companion to talk to and found the card library, the model menu and a crypto checkout were more setup than the conversation itself. That person is paying for a platform when what they wanted was the relationship. Beauties.ai is built for that second person: six girlfriends written and illustrated in house, tasteful by design, who remember you and, on Flame and above, text you first. It is $12 a month, or $9 a month billed yearly, on a normal card, with unlimited texting and no meter. If you are weighing the whole category rather than just Chub's price, the Chub AI alternative comparison sets the card library, your own key and a curated gallery side by side, and what an AI girlfriend really costs per month lines up the rest of the market.
