Short answer: SpicyChat is the cheaper app to pay for if you want long memory, and PolyBuzz is the cheaper app to start on if you want a polished feed of ready characters. SpicyChat's plans are $5.95, $19.95 and $29.95 a month, or $60, $199.95 and $299.95 a year, and its memory climbs from 4K to 8K to as much as 32K with each tier. PolyBuzz Standard was $9.90 a month in the last US price list Apple published, with Premium at $19.90 and Ultimate at $29.90, and only Ultimate adds Permanent Memory. On an iPhone in the US you cannot buy either one in the App Store right now.

SpicyChat's figures were read on its own documentation, subscribe page, refund policy and terms on 19 October 2026. PolyBuzz's dollar prices are Apple's last US in-app purchase list, read on 12 October 2026, before the listing went dark, and its plan contents and terms come from polybuzz.ai, read on 23 October. On 1 November 2026 Apple's search still returned no PolyBuzz app for the US. Yearly totals and savings are our arithmetic from those numbers.

Is SpicyChat cheaper than PolyBuzz?

On the entry plan, yes, by $3.95 a month. Get a Taste at $5.95 against Standard at $9.90 comes to $71.40 and $118.80 over twelve months paid monthly. The catch is what the cheaper plan buys. Get a Taste removes ads and adds the Memory Manager, but its memory is the same 4K as the free tier, so you are paying to hide ads, not to be remembered.

At the middle tier the two are within a nickel of each other, $19.95 against $19.90, and the top tier is $29.95 against $29.90. A year of True Supporter paid monthly is $239.40 and of Premium $238.80. SpicyChat's annual toggle changes that picture: True Supporter at $199.95 is $39.45 under twelve monthly payments, and I'm All In at $299.95 saves $59.45. PolyBuzz's yearly plans exist only on its website and we could not confirm any in dollars.

Which has better memory, SpicyChat or PolyBuzz?

SpicyChat sells memory as a number you can read and PolyBuzz sells it as a name. SpicyChat's docs give each tier a context size, so you know True Supporter holds twice what Get a Taste does. PolyBuzz calls the cheaper tiers Long Memory and reserves Permanent Memory for Ultimate at $29.90 a month, and its own FAQ admits memory is technically limited and a character may forget earlier conversations over time.

For a long roleplay the clearer route to more memory is SpicyChat's 8K or 32K tier. For someone who wants a promise that a character will not forget, PolyBuzz's Ultimate is the only plan that claims it, at a price within a nickel of SpicyChat's top tier. Neither publishes how many days a memory lasts.

What does PolyBuzz cost on top of the plan?

Coins. PolyBuzz's FAQ says coins extend voice chat time, regenerate a reply, buy inspiration replies and generate memory scenes. The smallest pack, 1,000 for $2.49, costs about twice as much per coin as the 8,000 pack at $9.99. SpicyChat has no second currency: its models are included in the tier price. If you like to regenerate replies until one lands, that single difference moves the real monthly bill more than the plan price does.

The weekly plan is the other trap. Standard at $4.99 a week looks like the smallest number on the screen, and kept for a year it costs $259.48, more than twice the monthly Standard price of $118.80 and more than twelve months of Premium at $238.80. SpicyChat has no weekly plan, so that mistake does not exist there.

Can I get a refund from SpicyChat or PolyBuzz?

Do not plan on one from either. SpicyChat's refund policy, updated 7 October 2026, says fees are non-refundable once you have used your login, there are no refunds for partial months and crypto payments are never refunded. PolyBuzz's terms say payments are not refunded even after you cancel. The practical rule is the same on both: pay for one month first, and set a reminder for the renewal date the day you subscribe.

If you pay on the web, the charge may not carry the brand name you expect. We list what PolyBuzz's billing entity looks like on a statement in our PolyBuzz subscription cost breakdown.

Is PolyBuzz available on iPhone in the US?

Not at the moment. The US App Store page for PolyBuzz: Chat with Characters has returned a 404 since at least 23 October 2026, and an existing Apple subscription is still managed and cancelled in iPhone settings. SpicyChat has no App Store app either, since it removed its iOS version in August 2025. On an iPhone both are websites, so you subscribe in a browser and the charge does not appear under Apple subscriptions.

SpicyChat adds one more thing for American readers. Its Age Verification page lists 26 US states where a video selfie check through a third party is required before you can use the site fully. Decide whether you are willing to do that before you pay for a year. We cover the state list in our SpicyChat vs Janitor AI comparison.

Which one should you pay for?

Pay for SpicyChat True Supporter if you want 8K memory and a bill that does not move, and take the annual toggle once you know you will stay, since it saves $39.45. Skip its cheapest tier unless ads are your only complaint. Pay for PolyBuzz Standard, on Android or the web, if you want the guided feed and voice listening and will not buy coins. Skip the weekly option, and choose Ultimate only if a character forgetting you is the reason you are upgrading.

Both are libraries of user-made bots built for trying lots of characters. If you keep returning to one or two and long roleplay replies are the part you actually enjoy, dictating them with voice typing that cleans up the ums and punctuation is faster than thumbing out paragraphs on a phone. And if what you want is one steady companion, Beauties.ai is the narrower option: six girlfriends written and illustrated in house, each with a fixed personality, who remember what you told them and, on Flame and above, text you first. Texting is unlimited with no coins or tokens, in any browser. Plans are $12 a month, or $9 a month billed yearly, and the pricing page shows every tier before you sign up. It is tasteful by design, not an explicit generator, and SpicyChat's $5.95 entry plan is cheaper than our $12, which we would rather say than hide. Our SpicyChat alternative and PolyBuzz alternative pages go tier by tier.
