Short answer: Replika is the cheapest of the three to keep for a year if you land on its $49.99 yearly item, but romance on Replika starts at Pro, and nothing on its price list tells you which tier you are buying. Kindroid is the most expensive and the most capable, with metered voice and the only live video avatar of the three. Nomi sits in the middle at $99.99 a year, with unlimited voice calls and a free plan that does not run out. If you mainly want a romantic companion you can text, the price that matters is the one that includes romance, and that changes the ranking.
Every figure below was read on 7 October 2026 from a US connection: the In-App Purchases lists Apple shows for each app on the US App Store, Replika's help center and terms of service, Kindroid's help center (its subscription, calls and in-app purchase pages, updated 6 October 2026), and Nomi's own wiki. None of the three publishes a full price table on its website, so the App Store lists are the only complete prices you can check without making an account. Per minute and per year figures are our arithmetic from those numbers.
Kindroid vs Replika vs Nomi price, plan by plan
| Plan | Replika | Kindroid (app) | Nomi |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | $7.99 or $14.99 (Apple does not say which tier) | $15.99 | $15.99, or $9.99 on the Launch Plan |
| Every 3 months | Allowed by its terms, not on Apple's list | $42.99 | $39.99 |
| Yearly | $49.99 or $69.99 | $159.99 | $99.99, or $59.99 on the Launch Plan |
| Top tier | Replika Platinum $89.99 | Ultra +$28.99 and MAX +$68.99 a month, stacked | None, one Standard Plan |
| Extras you can buy | Gems $0.99 to $19.99 | Slots $3.49, selfies 50 for $6.99, audio 500k credits $14.99 | Credits 40 for $4.99 to 1,800 for $99.99 |
| Free use | Free Use, friend only | A one time 50 message preview, then read only | 50 messages a day, indefinitely |
| Trial | None | 3 days, card required, converts automatically | No trial, the free plan instead |
| Refunds | All purchases final | Case by case, all sales final | Subscriptions nonrefundable |
| App Store rating (US) | 4.44 from 227,699 | 4.78 from 9,263 | 4.57 from 2,915 |
Two things in that table are easy to miss. Replika's list mixes tiers with no labels, so a $7.99 monthly item and a $14.99 monthly item sit side by side and you only learn which is Pro inside the app. And Kindroid's help center no longer prints its web prices at all. It now says only that the exact price for your country and platform is shown at checkout and that buying on the web is usually cheaper, so the app prices above are the only Kindroid figures we can stand behind today.
Is Kindroid better than Replika?
For control and voice, yes. Kindroid lets you write and edit your companion's backstory, memory and personality directly, it includes voice calls on the standard plan, and it is the only one of the three with a live video avatar. Replika is better if you want a low effort companion that grows with you, a big community and a 17+ app with nearly 228,000 US ratings behind it. Kindroid also costs more: $159.99 a year in the app against Replika's $49.99 or $69.99.
The catch on the Kindroid side is the meter. Every plan gets a monthly pool of audio credits, 1 million on standard, 2.5 million with Ultra and 6 million with MAX. A voice call costs a fee of 400 credits a minute, and the live avatar adds about 2,500 credits a minute on the standard look or about 4,500 on the premium look, on top of the call fee. So a standard plan covers at most around 340 minutes of standard avatar video a month (1,000,000 divided by 2,900) before you buy 500,000 more credits for $14.99, and that ceiling is lower once the audio of the replies is counted. If you want her on video most evenings, budget for top ups or Ultra.
Nomi vs Replika, which subscription is worth keeping?
For most people who want a romantic companion and talk out loud, Nomi. Its $99.99 year includes unlimited voice calls with its own voices, and Nomi's wiki lists Romantic as one of the relationship types you can choose without marking it as a paid feature. Replika's help center says the opposite about romance: "Additional relationship options beyond 'friend' like romantic partner, mentor, etc., are unlocked starting with a Replika Pro subscription." So the Replika price to compare is the Pro price, not the free app.
Replika wins on what Platinum adds. Its help center lists real time video recognition, a Training Mode of up to 100 uses a week, a "Read Replika's Mind" feature and up to ten realistic selfie videos. Nomi has no live video and says replies on calls are not instantaneous. If seeing and being seen matters, Replika Platinum at $89.99 or Kindroid's avatar are the options; if a steady voice at a fixed yearly price matters, Nomi is the safer budget.
What does a year really cost on each?
| How you pay | Replika | Kindroid (app) | Nomi | Beauties.ai |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Twelve monthly payments | $95.88 or $179.88 | $191.88 | $191.88 | $144 (Spark) |
| One yearly payment | $49.99 or $69.99 | $159.99 | $99.99 | $108 (Spark) |
| Everything unlocked, monthly | Platinum $89.99 (billing period not labelled) | $113.97 a month with Ultra and MAX | $15.99 plus credits for images and video | $49 (Devoted) |
| Romance included | Pro and up | Yes | Yes | Every plan |
Read honestly, Replika's cheapest yearly item beats everything here, ours included, and Nomi's $99.99 year beats our $108 Spark year. Where the ranking flips is the monthly payer and the person who would end up stacking extras. Twelve months of Kindroid with Ultra and MAX in the app comes to $1,367.64, which is more than nine years of Spark paid monthly.
Why are long-time Replika users leaving?
The reasons that show up in Replika's own help center are structural rather than dramatic. Romance is behind Pro. Plan changes require cancelling the current plan and letting it run out first. Chat history is only shown for the past four months. All purchases are final. And the rule that catches the most people: deleting the app or your account does not cancel the subscription, so a yearly renewal can land months after someone stopped using it. If that is how you found this page, our guide to the Luka Inc charge on your card lists every amount Replika can bill and how to stop it on each platform.
Replika also has an unusual origin. It grew out of a chatbot its founder built from a late friend's text messages, which is why it leans toward reflection and support more than flirting. If rebuilding a voice from real writing is what you actually want, an AI clone trained on your own documents is a different kind of product from any of the companions compared here.
Can you cancel and get a refund?
You can cancel all three at any time, but refunds are unlikely on every one of them. Replika says all purchases are final once payment completes and gives no refunds for partial months. Kindroid handles refunds case by case, says all sales are final, and warns it may ban accounts that dispute charges with their bank. Nomi's wiki calls subscriptions nonrefundable. If you paid through Apple or Google, the refund request goes to the store, not the company. Cancel in the place you paid: inside the app or website for web billing, your Apple ID subscriptions for iPhone, Google Play for Android, and PayPal's automatic payments for Replika PayPal plans. Our Replika cancel guide walks through each one.
Which one should you pay for?
Pick Kindroid if you want to design a companion in detail and you will use live video, and accept that heavy calling means buying credits. Pick Nomi if you talk out loud a lot and want one fixed yearly price with calls included. Pick Replika if you want the gentlest, lowest effort companion and you are fine paying for Pro to make it romantic, ideally on the yearly plan.
And if the thing you are actually shopping for is a girlfriend you text, with no build step and no meter, that is what Beauties.ai plans are for. Six girlfriends written in house, each with her own personality, unlimited texting on every plan, romance from the first message, voice notes on Flame and voice calls on Devoted. Spark is $12 a month or $108 a year and renews at that price.
